2023, a year at The Steadings.
We’ve had a great year taking the first steps to creating the new neighbourhood for Cirencester. Here are some of the highlights from 2023…
In February the first show home opened on Phase 1 inviting potential buyers to meet the Knight Frank team and see plans for the 68 new high-quality sustainable homes built by HarperCrewe.
During February and March, the first plots for 14 Affordable Homes were transferred to Bromford – as the first investment in the site.
In March the Bathurst Development team planted a tree, on behalf of The Steadings, in The Cirencester Park Jubilee Community Arboretum, as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy.
A huge milestone was reached in April when the first residents moved into their new home at The Steadings.
Throughout the year, we have been meeting with community group leaders who form the Community Liaison Group. April gave as an opportunity to update everyone on progress, and answer queries and concerns.
May saw a lot of activity in the community, including….
The Corinium Museum invited pupils from Chesterton Primary School to a poetry workshop to write poems and to create displays linked to Earth Day. We were delighted to have provided sponsorship to help enable this for the pupils.
We provided sponsorship for planting for the large new pond at Powell’s Primary School, to help support children to learn about the natural world.
Lord Bathurst and Peter Clegg gave a presentation on The Steadings to The King’s Foundation (previously named The Prince’s Foundation), setting out a Roadmap for Landowners and Trustees towards Legacy Development.
In June we held our Community Liaison Group meeting.
When the summer was in full swing, in the July we meet with the local community and visitors at The Cotswold Show, where we helped to illustrate what The Steadings will bring to Cirencester.
Also in July, The Steadings sponsored the Innovation Award at the Cirencester Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, celebrating the exceptional businesses in the local community.
In August we contributed towards the Phoenix Festival, an annual free community music and entertainment event.
September saw us set up our own YouTube Channel, and we also hosted another Community Liaison Group meeting.
Gas mains pipe diversion works began in October, to divert an existing gas main.
Another big milestone in October came with Bromford announcing the launch of the first six shared-ownership homes within Phase 1 at The Steadings.
In November, our appointed contractors Barnwood, began enabling works on the legacy building at Siddington Primary School, which will temporarily host The Steadings Primary School.
This then brings us to December….
We are delighted to have supported the Cirencester Singers Christmas Concert on 20th December, in aid of Foodbank and Parkinson’s UK.
Also in December, The Steadings Community Management Trust (SCMT) have begun preparations of their Community Hub, which will open in early 2024.
We have 25 homes completed and occupied (including eight which are affordable / affordable rent), making up the very first households to have moved into The Steadings.
To round things up, we celebrated the first Christmas at The Steadings with an Open Day hosted by HarperCrewe and Knight Frank.
2024 will see more progress on site with work expected to start on the new primary access road, new buildings within the first employment area, and plans to be submitted for the next phase of new homes.
