Development Update

HarperCrewe welcomes the 50th occupation of the new homes within The Steadings.

On 26th November we welcomed the newest residents to move into the beautifully designed energy-efficient homes within this first phase. At time of issue of this newsletter, there were just seven remaining private sale homes available to purchase. And all of the affordable homes (a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership) are occupied.

If you’d like to enquire about one of last remaining homes built by HarperCrewe, the please visit their website for more details: here

Siddington Primary School gets ready to use new building.

The new primary school building at Siddington C of E Primary School is now complete and in the process of being handed over to the Corinium Education Trust. This new building has been funded by Bathurst Development Limited (BDL), as the master developers of The Steadings, and built by Gloucester-based contractors Barnwood Limited.

The new building provides flexible space that in time is intended to host The Steadings Primary School on a temporary basis until the new permanent school on The Steadings is ready. It will also be used by Siddington C of E Primary School. The works have included the provision of a new school hall and teaching space, a new entrance and office, additional car parking, as well as improvements to the school’s facilities. The school are hoping to host their Nativity in the new building this week – now that there is ‘room at the Inn’!

Landscaping work is underway to provide the school with a new entrance including a walkway, planted areas and other wildlife initiatives. The new trees will go into the ground shortly, and planting of the beds will take place in the Spring.

This legacy building forms part of BDL’s overall investment in educational facilities within Cirencester, as part of The Steadings.

Infrastructure Update

Phase two at The Steadings, Cirencester.

On-site infrastructure update.

Phase two on-site works progress well.

Despite some initial delays in finalising and agreeing the surfacing materials, works have progressed well to prepare for the development of the second phase of new homes.

The eastern access road through this section is now complete, with tree and shrub planting underway. We hope to have some drone footage available in the new year to showcase the progress. This will give a real sense to the scale of the width of the road, which also includes a cycle route and footpaths.

The northern and southern green space landscaping is also nearing completion with further tree planting underway – most of the trees are fairly large, giving an immediate sense of a well-established landscape.

In addition, the stones have been laid for the new amphitheatre with planting to take place in the new year. This area will become a great meeting space for the wider community to use into the future.

Further archaeology surveys and investigations are currently taking place – take a look at our social media pages in the new year for an update on these works.

Fire Station roundabout and Love Lane / Midland Road upgrades.

Good progress has been made on the improvement works to Midland Road and our contractors, Montel, have moved to the final stages of completion. The traffic lights will be removed imminently, with final overnight resurfacing to take place early in the new year.

The works to the main Fire Station roundabout are also progressing well.
