Fire Station Roundabout Update No.9 – July 2025

news update

Resurfacing works to the Fire Station Roundabout were complete, as planned, by Friday 18 July. The road contractors, Montel Civil Engineering, remain on the carriageway to carry out finishing works and to check and test the traffic lights.

It is expected the traffic lights will be working by Wednesday 30 July, therefore, the traffic management system (lane restrictions, cones and barriers) will need to remain in place to ensure a safe working environment for the team and for all road users. It may be necessary for a few days grace within this timeframe to ensure the traffic lights are running accurately.

Once all parties are confident the checks are complete, the traffic lights and the at-grade pedestrian crossings will be in full use. This will allow for the full closure of the subway for refurbishment works.

There will be some equipment, machinery and vehicles close to the main roundabout in order to carry out the remaining works. These will be kept to a minimum to avoid any unnecessary inconvenience.

We would like to thank local residents and businesses for your feedback during the time of the works. More importantly, we thank you for your understanding and patience while these necessary and required works are carried out.
