The Steadings

Have your say on plans for Siddington Primary School’s new legacy hall

news update

Plans have been unveiled for a new hall at Siddington C of E Primary School to accommodate local pupils before a new primary school is built as part of The Steadings.

Siddington C of E Primary School will be the temporary site of the new school until 2026, and this temporary accommodation will become a permanent legacy building for Siddington C of E Primary School, specifically a new multi-purpose hall. We have worked closely with the Corinium Education Trust and Gloucestershire County Council to ensure these plans were mutually beneficial and provided long-term added value.

The consultation period for the new hall has officially begun, with views and ideas welcomed from the local community – full details are at the end of this article. The consultation will run until 28th April 2022 and we expect to make a formal planning application in early Summer 2022, with construction hoped to begin in Summer 2023.

The new school will be run by the Corinium Education Trust to meet the demand for additional school places in Cirencester as more families move into the developing neighbourhood.

Katie Cook, the Headteacher at Siddington School said: “A new hall has been an aspiration for many years and it will provide a fantastic new flexible space for enhancing our pupils’ education.”

Lord Bathurst, a Director of BDL, said: “I am delighted that BDL is able, through the development of The Steadings, to fund and build the new legacy hall at Siddington C of E Primary School. We have appointed the architectural practice Roberts Limbrick Ltd, whose reputation for designing bespoke school facilities within the region is impressive.”

To mitigate any potential concerns that may arise through the temporary relocation, Siddington School and the Corinium Education Trust have been working closely together to draw up solutions to any potential disruption. Additional parking will be provided for staff, new walking routes will be put in place, new play areas will be built and timetables will have staggered starts in an effort to prevent potential issues such as traffic, lack of parking spaces and overcrowded play areas.

We want to hear your feedback. Please fill out the form below by the 28th April.
