Site Walk for Local Residents

On Tuesday, after the site had closed for the day, we took two groups of local residents, who attend the Community Liaison Group meetings, on a site walk of Phase 2 at The Steadings.
This was a great opportunity for the local community to get a sense of the scale of the site, admire the landscaping and planting, and see the position of each parcel of new homes within 2A, 2C and 2B. Parcel 2A will be the first to be brought forward, by Keepmoat.
The walks started near the eastern entrance at the play area and amphitheatre, which are currently under construction. We then walked along a section of the circular walk (within part of the northern green space), which runs behind Berkley Road and Alexander Drive.
We crossed 2C pausing at the top of the primary street, with footpath and active travel path, to look across to 2D and the area the village square will be built.
From here we walked across 2B identifying the construction access road before walking along part of the southern section of the circular path (through the southern country park), taking in the swales and attenuation pond along the route.
The whole walk took approximately one hour with guests having an opportunity to ask questions and find out more directly from the Bathurst Development team. Those in attendance enjoyed the walks with comments shared such as “[the site] is much better than I was expecting”.
Should you wish to be kept up-to-date with process at the site, you can sign up to receive Email Updates here, and you are welcome to attend the Community Liaison Group meetings in-person or online. The next meeting is in October, please email: community@thesteadingscirencester.co.uk to find out more.
