The Steadings, Roadworks Update – Local Road Closure & Overnight Works

Please see below information regarding our programme of roadworks taking place next week up until the end of September 2022. These activities form part of our investments in wider infrastructure provided as part of The Steadings, as well as enabling works to progress the development.

A core value of The Steadings is to invest in and improve local infrastructure, and these necessary works come as part of our commitment to deliver on this.

Our website will be kept up to date with regular updates (www.thesteadingscirencester.co.uk), and we will also issue these updates via email.

Spratsgate Lane, Somerford Road & Wilkinson Road – Full road closure

From Monday 26th to Friday 30th September inclusive, the Somerford Road/Wilkinson Road Junction and Spratsgate Lane roundabout will be closed for resurfacing.

This map shows the extent of the roadworks being undertaken and the diversions that will be put in place. The red line on the left represents the closed section of the road. It includes the Spratsgate Lane, the new roundabout, the junction with Somerford Road and part of Wilkinson Road.

Wilkinson Road – Overnight works to co-ordinate with planned works by Thames Water.

Between midnight and 5am from Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th September works will be undertaken either side of Wilkinson Road close to the new site entrance. To help minimise disruption, these works are timed to coincide with planned Thames Water installations.

Thames Water are installing a bulk meter on a major water main, and our contractors are using the opportunity to install a sewer under the water main whilst it is closed.  These collective works need to take place at night, when demand for water is low. The area will be lit for purpose, and some drilling is required; we will seek to keep the disturbance to a minimum.
