The Steadings

Works Notification – Spratsgate Lane Works

news update

As you may be aware, some work is underway at and around Spratsgate Lane. This work is part of our programme of early infrastructure for The Steadings development by Bathurst Development Limited (BDL). We are enhancing several existing roads and footpaths, installing new utilities and services, realigning the junction of Somerford Road and Wilkinson Road, and building a new roundabout on Spratsgate Lane to create our first key access point into The Steadings. To date our contractors have been working under 3-way traffic lights, and we appreciate your patience whilst this has been taking place.

In order to continue our works, we have agreed with Gloucestershire County Council Highways team that we will close the junction of Spratsgate Lane/Somerford Road/Wilkinson Road. I have indicated the affected area on the map below.

The road closure will commence on Monday 20th September, and remain in place for 8 weeks. This is to allow our contractors to install the drainage network and utility services and begin to connect the new and old road infrastructure together while starting to prepare the base surface of the new carriageway. After the 8-week closure, the road will reopen under a 30mph limit with two-way traffic lights in place for safety reasons. There may be another brief closure to lay the final road surface and put the white lining down, but we will confirm these details in a future communication.
