Infrastructure Update

Upgrades to Fire Station roundabout

Investing in local infrastructure

Fire Station Roundabout Upgrade

With the delivery of the new neighbourhood for Cirencester at The Steadings, a number of improvement works will take place across the local area.

The roundabout on the dual carriageway in Cirencester, closest to the Fire Station, along with the mini-roundabout at the junction of Love Lane and Midland Road, will undergo a major upgrade from the end of July 2024 to improve traffic capacity and flows, safety, and mitigate flooding issues on the roundabout.

  • Work will start on 29th July 2024, a week after the Royal International Air Tattoo, with a completion date in Spring 2025.
  • Preliminary enabling works started on 24th June 2024 for three days in the centre of the existing roundabout.
  • Work will not affect access to and from the Fire Station.

These works form part of Bathurst Development’s programme of considerable investment and infrastructure improvements within the local area, which will bring forward a host of benefits to the wider community as part of the development of The Steadings.

We appreciate the improvement works will cause some disruption, for which we do apologise in advance for the inconvenience this necessary work will cause.

Please direct any queries relating to these works, or wider about the new neighbourhood to: community@thesteadingscirencester.co.uk or 0800 002 9055.

Access Road and Landscape Works Update 1

Eastern access road and landscaping

Further to work commencing in January 2024 on the eastern access road, off the Spratsgate Lane roundabout, good progress is being made despite the earlier poor weather conditions.

New foul and surface water drains have been installed along the route of the road and the culvert at the entrance has been completed. The temporary substation and temporary water supply are also complete.

Good progress is being made on the formation of the road, with all excavation and capping complete, and foundations for the kerbs are nearing completion.

In addition, the earthworks have begun in preparation for landscaping work and to create the entrance feature. This will then progress to planting the greenspace on the northern boundary and then the road corridor later this year.

This update can also be found in the news section on our website here.

The images above show the view to the east of the access road (top), prepared soil for landscaping of the northern boundary (left), and excavation for a raising main (right).
